EXILE ON CAUCASUS 2017

Exile On Caucasus is an amber wine made of 100% Rkatsiteli.

Grapes come from Chumlaki in Kakheti and were hand harvested the 23th of September 2017. The vintage was affected by hail storm at fruit set and drought after veraison giving a lot of concentration to berries.

Half of the harvest was destemmed and put in Qvevri with skins.

The remaining half was pressed and after a light “debourbage” added to the Qvevri.

This wine is a crossroad between Georgian and French winemaking traditions. After a 2 weeks maceration on skins the wine was racked to an old 350 L French oak barrel to finish fermentations and aged slowly.

The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered with a minimal amount of So2.

We recommend to decant Exile on Caucasus 1 hour before to serve.

Production : 460 bottles

Tasting notes

In the glass, a gold color with an amber hue.

On the nose hints of yellow peaches with nuances of hazelnut supported by tea leaves.

The mouth is rich, fresh and complex where dried apricots, almond and suggestions of honey are mixed in harmony giving to the wine a great drinkability.

The wine has a long and crisp finish supported by a nice texture.
